Remixed 3 and Other 2005 Verve Releases
It’s too early to post most of these dates in the New Releases list to the left since they can change. However, it’s worth noting some of these new (and increasingly fewer) jazz recordings due out. Always a favorite of mine, the Verve Remixed series will welcome a third recording. Verve Remixed 3 comes out on April 5. This one will introduce me to a whole new bunch of mix masters that I haven’t heard of (except for Carl Craig): Postal Service, Bent, RSL, Adam Freeland, Sugardaddy, RJD2, Max Sedgley, Lyrics Born, The Album Leaf, Junior Boys, and Danger Mouse. Can’t wait. I don’t know which artists and songs they’re remixing…Kurt Rosenwinkel, Deep Song (3/1)…Wayne Shorter, Breaking the Sound Barrier (5/17)…John Scofield, That’s What I Say, Lizz Wright’s sophomore release is still untitled (both 6/7)…Herbie Hancock (title TBD, 8/2)…Thievery Corporation, Sounds From The Verve Hi-Fi 2 (9/15)…Roy Hargrove (title TBD, 9/22)…A compilation of “the very best of” Michael Brecker will be out June 7 and that will be a great one. Before moving to Heads Up this year, Michael has recorded for the label his entire career (from his debut on Impulse! to GRP to Impulse! again to Verve). That should be a double-disc set!
