Light of the World on Carl Cox CD

DJ Carl CoxThe latest release by DJ Carl Cox, Second Sign, was released everywhere else in the world last year. It’s coming out here in the States on April 4 on the Koch label. It’s always interesting when DJs write their own material and Cox does so with fifteen tracks on this recording. One of the tracks features the UK soul/funk/disco band Light of the World (which had a pre-Incognito Jean-Paul “Bluey” Maunick as one of its leaders). I have some LotW tracks from their Inner Voices release that I would love to play on TomorrowJazz Radio but am prohibited from doing so by rules that govern broadcasting (traditional and Internet) here. To my knowledge, no LotW recording is “authorized for performance in the United States.” I even tried contacting the band through their (now defunct) web site to get direct permission but did not receive a response.

For more information on the other tracks on Second Sign (which I’m anxious to hear), read the press release or read last May’s review at Resident Advisor.
