2004 Jazz Holiday CDs Round Up Part 3

Michael FranksYou can find other modern jazz artists on other holiday recordings this year. Like the Yellowjackets and Hiroshima releases, Michael Franks offered a holiday CD through his web site. Watching the Snow is available in stores this year (through a distribution deal with Rhino) and through Amazon.com. Franks wrote all of the music on the CD. The only covers are of his own songs previously available on other compilations ? ?I Bought You A Plastic Star (For Your Aluminum Tree)? and ?Island Christmas.? . . . Philippe Saisse has a rendition of ?Winter Wonderland? on the new Windham Hill Christmas: I?ll Be Home For Christmas. . . Dave Grusin produced and played on the first-ever holiday CD by James Taylor. A Christmas Album is only available at Hallmark stores. Among the musicians Dave brought in for the project is Larry Goldings.
